Six (6) Police Vehicles

Police One-Time $509,000
Replacement Fund
The Police Department is requesting the replacement of six (6) vehicles as part of the City's ongoing fleet
replacement and lifecycle management strategy. This includes four (4) patrol vehicles and two (2)
administrative vehicles.
This request aligns with the City's newly developed fleet replacement framework, which establishes a
consistent and data-informed approach to vehicle replacement based on age, utilization, condition, and
operational need. Police vehicles experience significantly higher mileage, idle hours, and duty-cycle demands
than general fleet vehicles, requiring a more structured and frequent replacement cycle to maintain reliability
and officer safety.
Four (4) patrol vehicles consisting of two Ford Police Interceptor Utility (PIU) units and two patrol F-150 units
will be acquired through the City's current Enterprise lease program. Patrol vehicles are generally scheduled
for replacement on an approximate five-year cycle to account for intensive daily use, extended idle time, and
emergency response conditions, while allowing flexibility based on mileage, condition, and operational needs.
Two (2) administrative vehicles will be purchased outright and assigned to Police leadership. In accordance
with the Department's fleet rotation strategy, these vehicles will be reassigned to other divisions, such as
School Resource Officers or support units, after approximately five years of service or based on utilization.
This approach maximizes the useful life of each vehicle while ensuring that frontline and leadership
assignments are supported with reliable equipment.
This request supports the City's broader efforts to implement a sustainable, cost-effective fleet replacement
program while maintaining the high level of service and safety required for Police operations.
