Christmas Tree Lighting Decorations
Quality of Life
Tourism Fund Recreation Recurring $40,000
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony relocated to Generations Park in 2025, providing a new setting
and experience for residents and visitors. The move also created a need for additional Christmas decorations
to enhance the park and support the events overall presentation. As the event continues to grow each year,
staff is requesting an ongoing annual allocation of $40,000 from the Tourism Fund to purchase and expand the
events Christmas decorations. Funding will be used for items such as ornaments, lighting, and seasonal
displays that can be reused and added to over time. This investment will allow the city to continue enhancing
the event and creating a welcoming holiday experience for residents and visitors.
Additional funding is requested to enhance the Christmas Tree Lighting with new decorations and event
elements that will elevate the overall appearance and visitor experience. The City Council has expressed a
desire to see new, bigger, and better items each year, and this investment will help meet that expectation while
keeping the event fresh and exciting. The new decorations will create greater visual appeal, improve the
overall quality of the festival, and provide a more memorable experience for residents and visitors. The
additional funding will support the continued growth and enhancement of this community event.
This request was added after the Proposed Budget was published, based on discussion at the August 6, 2026
Budget Work Session.
