maintained and available conducted energy devices, officers may have fewer less-lethal options during rapidly
evolving encounters, potentially increasing the likelihood of physical force, injury, or escalation. Similarly,
outdated or unsupported camera systems can fail at critical moments, limiting situational documentation and
reducing accountability protections for both officers and the public. Overall, not funding the Axon agreement
would hinder the departments ability to meet modern policing standards, sustain transparent operations,
protect officers and residents, and effectively deliver public safety services.
The new agreement was approved by the City Council on June 23, 2026.
