Summary:
The Police Department’s main goal is to provide public Volunteer Hours
safety service to the Arlington community. This goal 10,000
can only be achieved through key collaboration with
residents and business partnerships. Local volunteer 8,000
groups work closely with the department to achieve
this goal. These groups include Community Watch 6,000
Groups, Citizen Patrol groups, Citizen Police Academy
graduates, COPS mobile members, and Arlington Clergy 4,000
and Police Partnership graduates. The department also
relies on local business alliances, apartment managers, 2,000
and youth mentoring programs to serve as crime
deterrents and offers opportunities for community ‐
involvement. These partnerships provide positive 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
interactions and enhance trust between the public and
the department. Continued communication and FY 2018 FY 2019 FY 2020
interaction with the community are crucial to establish
genuine relationships to resolve issues within our
community.
Update:
th
During the 4 quarter, APD continued to be active in
staying connected with the community and addressing
any concerns. Our engagement was mostly done
through email, phone calls, and video conferencing.
While this has been a challenging time for everyone,
the community is very supportive of the department’s
efforts. Our focus this quarter was to ensure that our
community was informed and safe. APD’s planning
included National Night Out, Coffee with a Cop, and
Faith and Blue. The Crime Prevention Unit participated
in Unite Arlington to support the community.
