SS4A Plan and ADA Plan
This project involves the development of a comprehensive Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Safety
Action Plan for the City, including an ADA Transition Plan. The plan will identify and prioritize safety
improvements citywide, establish a framework for future capital safety projects, and ensure compliance with
ADA accessibility requirements across public rights-of-way.
We have applied for federal SS4A grant funding to cover $850,000 of the total project cost. If awarded, our
local match responsibility is $250,000, programmed over two fiscal years: $50,000 in the first year, to be
absorbed into the EDC-4B Street Improvement Fund Contractual Services budget, and $200,000 in the
following year.
Outside of funding the project itself, there are no direct operating cost impacts during the plan development
phase. The SS4A Safety Action Plan and ADA Transition Plan are planning documents that will guide future
capital investment decisions and the ADA transition plan is state requirement. Long-term, the safety projects
identified through this plan are expected to reduce crash rates, accident-related costs, and ADA liability
exposure. Implementation of the ADA Transition Plan will also reduce the risk of federal compliance findings
and associated remediation costs.
