Harwood Rd and Murphy Signalized

               Intersection

This project involves the signalization upgrade at the intersection of Harwood Road and Murphy Drive. The
scope of work includes upgrading the existing traffic signal with ADA-compliant curb ramps, installing
pedestrian signals, installing a flashing yellow arrow, and refreshing pavement markings and high-visibility
               crosswalks.

The City of Bedford applied for and was awarded Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding
through TxDOT (Fort Worth District). Construction costs are fully covered by the HSIP award. We are
responsible for design, environmental review, and project overhead costs.

Ongoing maintenance of the upgraded signal hardware and pedestrian infrastructure will be absorbed within
the existing Public Works operating budget. The installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps, pedestrian signals,
high-visibility crosswalks, and flashing yellow arrow technology is anticipated to reduce crash rates at this
intersection, lowering the long-term costs associated with accident response, roadway damage, and liability.
Modern signal equipment is also expected to reduce maintenance frequency compared to the existing aging
               infrastructure.
