Harwood Rd and Central Dr Signalized
Intersection
This project involves the signalization upgrade at the intersection of Harwood Road and Central Drive. The
scope of work includes upgrading the existing traffic signal with ADA-compliant curb ramps, installing
pedestrian signals, installing a flashing yellow arrow, installing safety lighting at the intersection, and refreshing
pavement markings and high-visibility crosswalks.
We applied for and were awarded Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding through TxDOT (Fort
Worth District). Construction costs are fully covered by the HSIP award. We are responsible for design,
environmental review, and project overhead costs.
The addition of intersection safety lighting will result in a modest increase in utility costs absorbed within our
existing operating budget. Ongoing maintenance of the upgraded signal hardware, safety lighting, and
pedestrian infrastructure will be managed within our existing Public Works operating budget. The installation of
ADA-compliant curb ramps, pedestrian signals, high-visibility crosswalks, flashing yellow arrow, and
intersection safety lighting is anticipated to reduce crash rates at this location, lowering long-term costs
associated with accident response, roadway damage, and liability.
