             Summary:

             The Records Services division serves as the repository for   Number of Open Record Requests

             Police Department.  The Texas Public Information Act is a
             state law that gives a person the right to submit a written    3,400
             request for any record related to official city
             business.  Records may include but are not limited to    2,900
             criminal offense reports, crash reports, 911 calls for
             service, photos, and audio/visual (A/V) recordings.     2,400

             The division handles both ORR (Open Record Requests)
             from the public and IRR (Interagency Record Requests)    1,400
             from other law enforcement agencies or segments of the
             criminal justice system. A large majority of ORRs are    900

             usually requesting crash reports and related documents.

             The Records Services division must provide a response to
             the requestor within 10 business days regarding the
             status of a request, including if it was submitted to the
             Attorney General to rule whether or not the information   Number of Interagency Record Requests

             Redactions to A/V material, including body worn camera
             (BWC) and dash cam video footage and 911 audio, are   1,250
             extremely labor and time intensive. Each minute of BWC   1,150
             video footage takes approximately 10 minutes to redact.   1,050
