Summary:
The Library is in the implementation phase of a Homebound Participants
program to provide services to homebound patrons 200
who cannot visit the library in person due to
transportation issues, including health issues impairing
mobility. Though the Arlington Public Library offers a 150
variety of online resources for the community, including
e-content, not all residents have the technology or the 100
knowledge to access these resources. While providing
access to materials is a big need, creating opportunities
for social interaction is a critical component. Recent 50
studies on cognitive health suggest that keeping the
mind active and connecting socially helps with daily -
living for seniors and other homebound residents. 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
For the implementation phase in FY 2024, the Library
will expand homebound service to all locations,
delivering books and other library materials to Homebound Items Circulated
residents’ homes, pick up items to return, and providing 200
information on assistive technologies such as Talking
Books and technological assistance for digital content
access. Upon completion of the implementation phase, 150
Library staff will analyze output and outcome data,
including anecdotal evidence and survey responses, to 100
determine how best to continue the program.
