PATROL

               Department at a Glance

               The Patrol Department includes one Assistant Police Chief, one captain, five sergeants, six corporals, and
               fifty seven patrol officers. Three new patrol officers were added in FY 2020-2021. The Patrol Department
               increased 10.3% due to a merit increase and the addition of personnel and related operational costs.

               Key Goals and Objectives

               Goal 1
               Conduct General Orders and Policy review.

               Objectives:
                   •  Every two weeks, a new policy will be selected by the Patrol Captain and covered on each
                       shift during roll call training.
                   •  Increase the overall understanding of Mansfield Police Department General Orders and Policies.

               Goal 2
               Enhance Patrol Officers’ training.

               Objectives:
                   •  Provide Standardized Field Sobriety Test training to all officers assigned to Patrol.
                   •  Improve the confidence and skill level of officers to enable them to successfully testify in
                       court on Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) cases.

               Goal 3
               Increase specified area checks for residential areas.

               Objectives:
                   •  Conduct a minimum of 100 area checks per shift, per month, in residential areas.
                   •  Concentrate on crimes that occur in residential areas.

               Performance Objectives
                 •  Cover training topics on General Orders and Policy during each shift.
                 •  Improve officers’ ability to detect DWIs.
                 •  Focus on residential area checks to deter crime.
