INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Information Technology Department’s mission is to provide support, maintain and continuously seek
to improve a high quality, cost effective Local Area Network and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) that
meets current and future requirements for staff and the citizens of the City of Mansfield.
Department at a Glance
The Information Technology Department includes the IT Director, Assistant Director, Web Master and
Network Administrator. The IT Department budget increased 13.04% due to a merit increase, contractual
cost increases, and planned technology upgrades.
Key Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Support the Mansfield Parks/Downtown WiFi Project and point-to-point connections to new facilities.
Objectives:
• Provide budget for maintenance/service contract.
• Provide connectivity to Fire Station #5.
• Provide connectivity to the Man House Museum/Visitors Center.
Goal 2
Combine/upgrade communications infrastructure and add personnel.
Objectives:
• Upgrade City Internet bandwidth to 500MB x 500MB including SD-WAN.
• Implement new phone system to reduce costs/combine services.
• Hire additional person in IT to assist with continued growth/demand for service.
Goal 3
Continue to focus on network security/cyber security both internally and externally.
Objectives:
• Renew PAN Cortex XDR endpoint software licensing.
• Renew PAN 3220 maintenance and subscriptions.
• Purchase and implement Accellion Enterprise Content Firewall.
Performance Objectives
• Expand the availability of WiFi throughout the city.
• Continue to upgrade the city’s IT infrastructure and fill the vacant position.
• Eliminate the potential for cyber attacks.
