New Project
Smithfield Middle School Safe This is a Safe Routes to Schools project through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside infrastructure
Routes to School (NCTCOG reimbursement program by the North Central Texas Council of Governments. The reimbursement program is an 80/20
Grant) - Continuing Project match, whereby the municipality must pay for 20% of the infrastructure improvements and the grant covers the other
80% through reimbursement. This particular project focuses on the bicycle and pedestrian feeder routes to Smithfield
Middle School. It includes filling existing gaps in the sidewalk network, replacing and installing new sidewalk ramps,
establishing new sidewalk routes, installing mid-block cross walks with advanced warning signage in key locations, a
bicycle parking station for up to 30 bicycles, and pedestrian crossing signage with LED outline at Mid-Cities &
Amundson/Winter Park.
Smithfield Road (Davis Blvd to This project consists of realigning a portion of Smithfield Road so that it connects directly to Bridge Street at Davis Blvd
Mid-Cities Blvd) - Continuing and reconstructing the existing section of Smithfield Road north to a point approximately 100 feet north of Mid-Cities
Project Blvd. The improvements will consist of modifying the signal light at the Davis Blvd intersection so that all four sides will
be signalized instead of the 3 sides that currently exists. In addition the new road will be constructed with concrete and
include sidewalks and a drainage system. This section of Smithfield Road is located in the Smithfield TOD and will be
constructed to the TOD criteria.
Street Assessment Project - The City of North Richland Hills roadway network is comprised of 549 lane miles and this project is for a consultant to
Continuing Project utilize specialized automated equipment to collect data such as ground penetrating radar, analyze, and process the data
in an overall pavement assessment. The assessment would yield a digital condition rating system, budget stressing
software that allows modification of the techniques that would result in a prediction of our current as well as the future
condition rating,and create five and/or ten year programs that would indicate where funds could be used most
impactfully. This project and consultant would be slected on an interlocal agreement with the North Central Texas
Council of Governments through their 3 vendors previously selected.
