BUDGET OVERVIEW
Several firefighters, dispatchers and police officers were deployed to the Texas coast
following Hurricane Harvey to provide much needed relief to public safety staff in
communities that were flooded by the storm. Our dispatchers answered 911 calls in
Rockport. Firefighters helped with search rescue efforts in Cy-Fair and police officers
assisted the Houston Police Department with patrols.
A record 79 pets were adopted free of charge from the Animal Adoption & Rescue Center
during the annual Clear the Shelter event. The center received a $10,000 grant from the
Petco Foundation to fund vaccinations, microchips and other services necessary to
prepare the pets for adoption.
A new interactive development map was launched to make it easier for the public to learn
about construction and development activity.
Results of the 2017 North Richland Hills’ Citizen Survey reflect continued citizen

government services and the overall value received for their tax dollar. Overall, 96% of
the survey respondents rated the quality of life in North Richland Hills as excellent or
good and 96% would recommend NRH to a friend or family member as a good place to
live. Seven out of every 10 respondents (71%) rated the overall quality of services versus
the taxes paid as excellent or good.
