Facial Recognition Platform

This request is to fund the annual subscription of a facial recognition platform to support criminal investigations
and investigative lead generation.

The requested facial recognition platform is designed for law enforcement, and assists in identifying suspects,
witnesses, and victims by comparing images against a large database of publicly available images. This tool
enhances investigative efficiency by rapidly generating leads, reducing time spent identifying unknown
individuals, and supporting case development. It can be particularly valuable in cases involving missing
persons, exploitation, and crimes captured on video, where traditional identification methods may be time-
consuming or limited. As technology continues to play a larger role in policing, tools like this provide the
department with modern investigative capabilities that improve case resolution and support public safety
efforts.

Improving our criminal investigations approach is a priority; however, other funding requests took precedence
in this tight funding year. City staff will continue to evaluate this and similar solutions for future funding.
