Ambulance Replacement

                                                       Fire One-Time $440,000
               Fund

The fire department is requesting approval to design and purchase a new Ford F-550 Type I modular
ambulance. The new ambulance will replace Unit 1057-22, which is a 2013 ambulance module mounted on a
2022 Ford chassis. This unit has 53,000 miles; however, it has 5,668 hours, which equates to approximately
170,040 miles of operational use. The ambulance module has previously been remounted and is now 13 years
old, exceeding the departments preferred lifecycle for frontline ambulance modules. A new ambulance has an
approximate build time of 12-24 months.

The Fire Department runs three (3) frontline ambulances with one (1) fully stocked reserve ready to be put in
use whenever a frontline ambulance is down for repair or maintenance. The department maintains one
additional ambulance for emergencies or to be used when one of the other ambulances is out for an extended
period. This happens most frequently when a unit is being remounted.

The department runs a frontline ambulance for approximately 5-6 years and then has it remounted, which
consists of putting a new chassis under the existing ambulance module. The remounted ambulance then can
run in a frontline status for an additional 5-6 years. This system is the most cost-effective way to manage our
ambulance inventory, but we only have an ambulance remounted one time prior to full unit replacement.

The cost of new ambulances continues to rise annually. In addition, federal tariffs and supply chain variables
create uncertainty in future pricing, making early cost projections difficult. While vendor quotes provide a
baseline estimate, final pricing may vary depending on market conditions at the time of purchase. To account
for this uncertainty and anticipated price escalation, the requested budget amount has been adjusted
accordingly. Unit 1057-22 may have some value in trade in or sale to be determined.

This unit is slated for replacement in two years under the equipment replacement plan.
