Staff allocations, which are already budgeted, are estimated at a 3% increase each year. Additional
personnel may be required. The operating impacts of an expanded treatment plant could be significant if
the costs of supplies, including chemicals to treat the water, continue to rise.
Major FY 2024-205 Utility Projects
Water Treatment Plant Expansion - $48,000,000 (prior year funding)
The Utility Fund has not issued debt since 2016. In FY 2023-2024, the City borrowed $48,000,000 to
construct an expansion to the Bud Ervin Water Treatment Plant. Currently, the plant treats and provides
45.5 million gallons of water per day. The expansion will increase capacity to an estimated 61 million
gallons per day.
