BUDGET OVERVIEW (MAJOR FUNDS)

General Fund

The General Fund is the principal fund of the city and is used to account for the resources that are
used to fund core government services including police, fire, emergency medical services, street
maintenance, park maintenance, library services, food inspections and code enforcement, building
inspections, and municipal court to name a few. The General Fund is supported by the operations
& maintenance portion of the property tax rate, one percent of the city’s total sales tax rate,
franchise fees, fines & forfeitures, licenses & permits, intergovernmental and miscellaneous
revenues.
