1.1.1 Life
Summary:
The City has set a target of having no more than 15% of Percentage of Fleet Beyond Life
the city‐wide fleet operating beyond recommended (Goal is 15% or less)
service life at any one time. Vehicles and equipment 25%
that are beyond recommended service life may have
more down time and may have less functionality 20%
compared to what is currently available on the market.
After the service life ends, maintenance and repair are at 15%
an extra cost, in addition to the annual contracted
maintenance cost. The City pays an extra, hourly rate 10%
for:
Repairs Due to Accidents, Damage, Abuse 5%
Adding or Removing Accessories such as light
bars 0%
Mechanical Failure for Vehicles Beyond Service FY 2018 FY 2019 FY 2020
Life
For FY 2020 the goal is to reduce Beyond Service Life to
15%. To help obtain this goal staff is looking to apply for
Grant Funding to help Replace Vehicles to reduce Life
cycle.

In the 4 quarter of FY 2020, Fleet Services completed
upfitting all 21 of the new Police Chevy Tahoe’s
purchased in late FY 2019 and FY 2020. All 21 are now in
service. With no other vehicle purchases made in FY
2020, this makes the City’s Beyond Service Life
percentage 20%.
