Summary:

The City of Arlington participated in the What WWC Assessment Criteria
Works Cities program from July 2017 to February
of 2018. The focus of our work was data Stakeholder Engagement
management, open data and performance Results‐Driven Contracting
management and analytics. As a next step for
cities interested in ensuring that they are using Repurposing
their data to its best effect, the What Works Cities Performance Analytics
program offers the What Works Cities
Certification for cities to improve data usage in Open Data
four areas – commit, measure, take stock and act.
General Management
Arlington’s goal is to improve our level of
achievement from our baseline established when Evaluations
we began the What Works Cities process, to Data Governance
achieve progressively higher certifications and to
exceed the achievements of other cities our size 0 2 4 6 8 10
as measured by What Works Cities.

Update:
Arlington achieved Gold Certification in 2020 by
fulfilling 67% of What Works Cities certification
criteria. Areas of improvement include Certification Level – Gold at 67%
Evaluations, Results‐Driven Contracting, and
Stakeholder Engagement with an increased
emphasis on training and outreach opportunities
as well as evidence‐based decision‐making
structures using quasi‐experimental evaluation
techniques.
