Summary:
This item supports the Council's "Enhancing Regional Via Ridership
Mobility" priority by improving access between 60,000
Arlington and the rest of the North Texas region.
The Via on‐demand rideshare service was launched 50,000
on December 11, 2017 to offer an additional 40,000
mobility option for residents, employees and
visitors. 30,000
The app‐based rideshare service uses a fleet of 20,000
fifteen 6‐passenger vehicles, a smart phone 10,000
application and dynamic routing to provide efficient
on‐demand trips and access to a wide range of ‐
destinations. The turn‐key operation is being 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
operated and maintained by Via through an annual
contract based on City Council approval.
The service area is roughly bounded by Lamar Blvd Via Active Accounts
on the north, Fielder on the west, 360 on the east
and I‐20 on the south and includes major 40,000
destinations such as UTA, Downtown, the hospital 35,000
district, the entertainment venues, the Parks Mall, 30,000
Arlington Highlands and the CentrePort TRE Station. 25,000

Via ridership increased during the 4 quarter of FY 15,000
2020, with a total of 40,325 rides given in this 10,000
quarter. 435,977 total rides have been taken since 5,000
program launch. There are a total of 37,115 ‐
accounts. There are currently 28 6‐passenger 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
vehicles available for the service, and six of these
vans are wheelchair accessible. Plans are underway
for the service to expand to cover the entire City
starting in January 2021.
