COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING DEPARTMENT

               MISSION STATEMENT:

               The mission of the Communications and Marketing Department is to be the citizen, staff and media link
               to the City of Mansfield, enabling each to access information on city  news and special events, understand
               local and regional issues that impact Mansfield and participate in on-going, city-wide dialogue to build
               consensus and community support.

               Department at a Glance

               The Communications and Marketing Department includes the Communications Director and one graphic
               designer. The Communications and Marketing budget decreased 1.16% in FY 2019-2020.

               Key Goals and Objectives

               Goal 1
               Become the resident’s No. 1 source of news and information on the city.

               Objectives:
                   •  Improve information distribution to residents by expanding the city’s strategic digital
                       communications plan.
                   •  Improve resident information access on the newly designed city website.
                   •  Improve print and digital materials for new and existing residents that focus on city services and
                       information.

               Goal 2
               Increase city’s profile regionally and nationally.

               Objectives:
                   •  Improve and expand media coverage of city news and events.
                   •  Increase recognition of Historic Downtown Mansfield.

               Goal 3
               Improve citizens’ and employees’ impression of the city organization.

               Objectives:
                   •  Provide employees with more news on city and department operations.
                   •  Increase the community’s knowledge of city operations and its employees.

               Performance Measures
                   •  Implement new online newsroom within the new  city  website  to provide comprehensive
                       information to residents.
                   •  Develop unique Mansfield stories that appeal on a broad level and pitch stories to local and
                       national media.
                   •  Create advertising and promotional materials specific to Historic Downtown.
                   •  Develop social media campaign on employees and city projects.
