Objectives:
Review individual training records of employees and create a formalized career
development plan as well as insuring certificate related courses are being
obtained for sworn personnel.
Create a spreadsheet or database for organizing training records and training
plans.
Update the filing system of training records to insure we meet TCOLE standards.
Formulate supervisory level training plans for supervisors to receive quality level
instruction.
Focus on employee retention and offering more specialized positions for career
development in the sergeant rank.
3. Identify crime related issues in each CSA and formulate plans to reduce crime.
Objectives:
Develop a “compstat” style of accountability program to identify and reduce
crime areas through various progressive police strategies using analytical data.
Re‐activate the bike patrol program that will enable officers to use as a strategy
for crime reduction.
Obtain a low profile patrol vehicle with subdued graphics and less visible police‐
related equipment that can maneuver through neighborhoods without being
easily recognized as police.
4. Enhance the thoroughness of criminal investigations to improve the level of service to
citizens and increase percentage of filed/closed cases per year.
Objectives:
Purchase various software and related investigative equipment to enhance and expedite
the investigative process.
Fill the CIU vacancies with staffing and send personnel to quality investigative training
schools to obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to investigate cases more
thoroughly.
Reclassify one of the three positions in CIU to a sergeant position to have accountability
and oversight of personnel and cases.
5. Review and evaluate all hardware and software being utilized in the department.
Objectives:
Review CIU software and databases being utilized and compare to establish the most
useful programs for the unit to serve our citizens.
