evaluate against other options in the industry compared to the financial cost.
6. Complete a needs assessment for the police department building design and needed
improvements.
Objectives:
Retain a contractor to provide an assessment of the building and vacant/misused space
from the previous detention center with options to fulfill needs of the police
department.
7. Complete an organizational structure assessment to evaluate rank structure and
staffing needs.
Objectives:
Retain an independent source to conduct an organizational review and work analysis to
determine the most efficient rank structure as well as any future staffing needs or
current underutilized staffing positions.
8. Review current community programs and enhance/implement new programs to
bridge the gap with the community and provide more education to the citizens.
Objectives:
Create a new youth summer program that will allow for various members of the
department to participate in a tailored program to recruit future police explorer
candidates.
Revitalize the police explorer program for high school aged (14‐18) juveniles.
Take steps to further implement the Citizen on Patrol program.
Create a focus on bringing in more volunteer opportunities to the police department for
Citizen Police Academy Alumni members.
Revitalize the Citizen Police Academy program and hold 1 class during the FY2018‐2019
term.
