Description/Mission
The mission of the police department is to provide quality police services through various partnerships
with the community, city departments and city leadership who provide support in achieving this
mission; to protect constitutional rights through ethical decision making; and to strive to contribute
ethical standards in the law enforcement profession.
Members of the police department must believe in the dignity and worth of all people, accepting the
CHALLENGE (Courage, Honor, Accountability, Loyalty, Leadership, Ethical, Noble, Good Will, and
Excellence) acronym that reflects our core values both in our professional and private lives.
Major Goals/Objectives FY2018‐2019
1. Review policies and procedures and revise accordingly, making them available to all
personnel through Power DMS.
Objectives:
Review policies previously drafted by outside contractor and present to a
committee who will research national standards and make recommended
changes.
Locate older policies still in effect and compare with new policies and/or revise
accordingly with the committee.
Continue to develop policy according to the Texas Best Practices that has yet to
be created.
Disseminate polices to personnel through Power DMS and create testing
instruments for each.
2. Review training needs for each employee in the department and formulate a career
development plan.
