Summary:
The Safe Streets Arlington Plan is designed to reduce and Estimated Actual

The Plan identifies top priority locations for safety of short-term actions

segments. There are a total of 44 action items of mid-term actions
recommended in the Plan, including 22 short-term items Consider update of Plan Dec. 2029
(to be completed within 2 years), 18 mid-term items (to be
completed in 3-7 years), and 4 long-term items (to be
completed in 5-7 years). The Plan also recommends that it
is substantially updated approximately every 5 years. Plan
implementation will be led by the Transportation
Department in collaboration with the Arlington Police
Department and the Public Works Department, as well as
other relevant City Departments. External funding
opportunities will be pursued to support implementation
activities.
Update:
The Safe Streets Arlington online dashboard has been
updated with 2023 crash data and an implementation
tracker. Implementation work completed in this quarter
includes educational outreach and submission of a FY 2025
SS4A grant to construct safety improvements at a key
intersection in southeast Arlington. The Internal
Stakeholder Committee, comprised of City staff from
various departments, and the External Stakeholder
Committee of community representatives will continue to
assist with implementation activities.
