COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Department at a Glance
The Community Resource Department (CRD) includes five Community Resource Officers (CROs). The
Community Resource Department is dedicated to a strong partnership between Mansfield Police and the
residents of Mansfield. This is accomplished by providing the highest level of community service through
many community-centered programs, including National Night Out. This department budget increased
9.61% in FY 2020-2021 due to personnel changes and some supply cost increases.
Key Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Host Bicycle Rodeos for the public.
Objectives:
• The CRD will host at least two Bicycle Rodeos to increase public awareness of bicycle safety and
improve bicycle skills.
• Bring in citizens to increase positive exposure of the Mansfield Police Department through
interaction with officers during the event.
Goal 2
Hold quarterly crime prevention meetings with neighborhood Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs) and
apartment complexes.
Objectives:
• Provide crime prevention techniques and inform HOAs and apartment complex residents of
current crime trends.
• Educate citizens on useful electronic communication sources being used to combat crimes, such
as Ring doorbells and phone apps or websites like NextDoor.
Goal 3
Increase Explorer Post 1601 enrollment and fundraising efforts.
Objectives:
• Increase funds brought in by the Explorer Post to help improve the program.
• Hold at least one Explorer activity or event outside of the scheduled bimonthly meetings to
enhance camaraderie, teamwork, and leadership.
Performance Objectives
• Strengthen the positive relationship between the citizens of Mansfield and Police officers through
community events.
• Increase the overall knowledge of citizens to help reduce crime in their neighborhoods.
• Expand enrollment in the Explorer Post.
