         MISSION STATEMENT

         We will hold to the Code of Ideals, The Hurst Way Philosophy, adhere to the Code of Judicial Conduct, and
         incorporate a standard of excellence as we maintain a work environment that is both productive as well as
         enjoyable to provide exceptional customer service in a just, fair and impartial way to bring disposition of all
         cases filed in the Hurst Municipal Court.



         DIVISION DESCRIPTION

         The  Judicial  Division  of  the  Legislative  and  Judicial  Services  Department  includes  the  administration  and
         operations of the Hurst Municipal Court of Record.  The Court has jurisdiction over traffic offenses, commercial
         vehicle violations and other Class C misdemeanors committed within the city limits as well as violations of city
         ordinances.  The municipal court Judge is appointed by the City Council for a two-year term that coincides with
         the term of the Mayor.  The City Attorney, or his designee, is appointed by the City Council as the prosecutor
         for  the  State  of Texas.   A full  time  Court  Administrator,  Judicial  Services  Manager, full  time  Senior  Deputy
         Court  Clerk,  two  full-time  Deputy  Court  Clerks  and  one  Juvenile  Case  Manager  are  responsible  for  the
         maintenance of the information system and documentation for all cases filed in the municipal court.  Four part-
         time employees serve as Marshal and Bailiff for weekly court sessions, scheduled jury trials, and enforcement
         of judicial orders.

              Updated policies and procedures manual
              Increased online filing for increased customer service initiatives
              Implemented security committee and plan
              Increase online e-filing for increased customer service initiatives
              Continue to utilize existing resources to locate defendants




         HURST WAY GOALS AND FUTURE INITIATIVES

              Encourage all clerks to become certified and cross trained
              Monitor legislation affecting municipal courts and cmv units
              Continue to update policies and procedures as needed
              Continue to enhance and evaluate public service delivery while responsibly managing financial
                resources with care and consideration
              Continue to find resources that will develop clerks with supervisory and leadership initiatives
              Work on adding vehicles into our fleet budget
