BUDGET OVERVIEW

           COUNCIL GOAL 9:

           EFFICIENT, EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF
           CITY SERVICES

Strive to improve efficiency, cost savings,
           effectiveness through shared services.

            Objectives:

 Maintain quality public facilities that meet the City’s image

 Instill an engaged, service-driven organizational culture that embodies R-SPIRIT values

 Maintain infrastructure that can meet current and future needs

 Explore improved efficiency, cost savings, and effectiveness through shared services

            Accomplishments:

 The Municipal Court launched a new web portal for defendants and attorneys to assist
them in following the status of their cases in “real time.” This has streamlined case flow
and reduced the number of calls and court appearances.

 The VIPS program was expanded to the Municipal Court allowing trained volunteers to
assist staff in each of the Court’s divisions. The volunteers help during teen court and
weekly court dockets. They also make phone calls regarding warrants and provide other
office support. Their contributions have improved the efficiency of the court at no cost to
                  taxpayers.

 An in-house veterinarian program was added at the Animal Shelter is improving its level
of service and efficiency, as well as saving costs on procedures necessary to prepare
                  pets for adoption.

 City staff within our Public Works Traffic Division learned how to perform the
replacement of traffic signal control equipment internally, saving the city thousands of
dollars and residents time as the intersections are typically up and running 3-4 hours
earlier than if we were waiting on a contractor to mobilize. In the past, a contractor would
be called to replace a traffic signal cabinet when they were damaged by an accident or
                  they were malfunctioning beyond repair.
