Strive to plan for the development of remaining
vacant property and improve the quality of older
areas and infrastructure.
Objectives:
Develop City Point Area
Create and implement a strategic plan for key transportation corridors
Revitalize residential neighborhoods
Ensure compliance with quality housing standards
Identify and implement as possible specific areas and potential incentives for
developers to redevelop residential housing in specific areas of the community.
Accomplishments:
The Strategic Plan Committee met throughout the year to provide input and
recommendations to update the City’s strategic plan. The Transportation Plan is
currently under review, and staff is working with the committee to prepare a final draft
for public input as well as City Council consideration. The final draft is expected to be
presented by the end of 2018.
The building inspections division performed over 12,000 inspections for new
commercial and residential developments, setting a new record for the city. In response
to the construction boom, a plans examiner position was added to speed up the permit
review and approval process.
With funding in the amount of $36,186 from Atmos Energy, Environmental Resources
completed energy efficient home upgrades for 25 income eligible residents through the
Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP) in FY 2017/2018.
