Victims of crime, including domestic violence, may be of 150
any gender, age, sexual orientation, race, religion, or

ethnicity. Victimization may happen to an individual, 97 102

family, group, or community. The impact of crime on an
individual victim, their loved ones, and their community
depends on a variety of factors, but often crime 50
victimization has significant emotional, psychological,
physical, financial, and social consequences. 0

Department investigators work quickly to expedite the
most serious of cases and those with high-risk indicators. Crime Victims Served
While investigators work the criminal aspect of the case,
the Victim Services Unit provides resources to victims and 3,400 3,096
family members with the goal of lessening the short and 3,200
long-term trauma experienced as a direct result of the 3,000 2,857
victimization. Victim Services provides crisis intervention 2,800 2553
and counseling, criminal justice support and advocacy, 2,600
information and referral, notification of rights and 2,400
transportation to shelters to all victims of violent crime 2,200
reported to the Arlington Police Department. Victim 2,000
Services counselors are on duty 7 days a week to respond 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
to requests for immediate crisis intervention for victims of
domestic violence and other traumatic crimes. Victims Served
Project RAISE (Risk, Assessment, Intervention, Safety, and Domestic Violence
Engagement) consists of a victim centered Multi- Robbery
Disciplinary Team of social service, community, and
Sex Crimes
criminal justice agencies partnering together to address
the issues that high-risk family violence victims face. Traffic Related
Project RAISE offers a professional support system to help Assault - Non DV
develop a safe and healthy climate for the victim. Project
Other
RAISE focuses on the intervention of the high- risk intimate
partner violence (IPV) locations within each geographic
district per month. The safety risk of each location is
evaluated by monitoring the number of calls, history of Category Breakdown:
violence, and the severity of violence. An in-depth Domestic Violence: 1,140
assessment is completed for the victim including a history Burglary/Robbery: 213
of violence, barriers to service, needs assessment, and Sex Crimes: 888
previous resources. This is accomplished through a Co- Traffic Related: 334
Responder Team onsite visit. The team consists of a Victim Assault (non DV): 330
Services Crisis Counselor and a patrol officer. Other: 448
