Summary:
The Arlington Police Department uses a Real Time Crime
Center (RTCC) to enhance public safety and crime
prevention. The RTCC leverages technology to provide real-
time intelligence to command, officers, detectives, and
investigators.
RTCC staff regularly respond to internal and external non-
emergency Requests for Information (RFI). RFIs are
completed when there is a criminal nexus, or public safety
concern. RFIs can vary widely, but often include information
that aids in addressing local crime, organized criminal
activity, or issues involving homeland security.
The RTCC also employs highly skilled technical
investigators, who custom build and install cameras for both
overt and covert deployments. These cameras allow for
remote surveillance as detectives and investigators
investigate criminal offenses or apprehend criminal
elements.
Further, the RTCC works closely with Tarrant County Crime
Stoppers. When a tip is received, it is forwarded to the
RTCC for initial investigation and vetting, before being sent
to the appropriate investigating unit.
In January 2025, with RTCC personnel tasked as piloting
the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from docks, heavy
emphasis was placed on completion of that training. As
such, the performance measures were impacted.
