increased and directed enforcement serves as a visual
and actual deterrent.
The Department completed another successful year of
grant funded enforcement that is designed to reduce
dangerous driving conditions on our major highways
and surface streets. The CVE grant allows the
Department to focus on commercial vehicle safety by
inspecting those commercial vehicles that travel
through our three major highways. The grants are
funded by the Texas Department of Public Safety and
the United States Department of Transportation. The
end goal of these grants is to improve safety on the
highways by having officers use education and
enforcement to correct dangerous driving behavior.
