Operating Impact: WEDC is applying for a 80/20 grant to fund this project. Matching
funds will be provided by the 2020 Certificates of Obligation proceeds.

FY2020-2021 PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE PROJECT

™ Description: The pedestrian bridge will link Watauga neighborhoods to the major
shopping areas located at Whitley and Bursey Road.

Justification: The bridge will provide more access to shopping areas for citizens. In
addition, the project will Increase walkability in Watauga and provide linkage to
shopping centers is designed to spur economic activity in the City as the area continues
to grow and thrive.

Operating Impact: The City will apply for a 80/20 Grant for this project. The matching
funds are included in the Capital Projects fund.

FY2020-21 STREETS/SIDEWALKS DISCUSSION

FY2020-2021 STREET OVERLAY

™ Description: This project provides for the curb
and gutter, subgrade, milling and asphalt overlay
for 7-8 streets annually.

Justification: The existing asphalt pavement for
certain streets is deteriorating. The asphalt
overlay will provide an improved riding surface
and will extend the life of the roadways and will
enhance the appearance of the streets.

Operating Impact: Savings of approximately
$4,000 in annual street maintenance costs are anticipated from completion of this
project.

Street Project, Phases I, II, III, IV and V
encompass the area of Oakhill to Starnes
(I), Watauga to Chapman (II), Chapman to
