MISSION / PROGRAMS / SERVICES:

Public Works strives to:
x Provide excellent quality service and maintenance for Watauga streets, signs, and traffic signals
x Promote ease of mobility throughout the City by maintaining our streets in a timely, efficient, and
cost effective manner
x Provide a high degree of customer service and satisfaction
x Maintain the traffic signals and signs to assist in the flow of the City

FY2019-2020 HIGHLIGHTS / ACHIEVEMENTS:

x Resurface North Park from Whitley to Indian Springs. A total of 1,040 linear feet of curb and
gutter was replaced. Along with 450 square feet of driveway approach, 2,460 square feet of
valley gutter and 10 linear feet of storm drain inlet apron
x Maintained 88 miles of roads, signs, traffic signals and road markings to an acceptable manner
x Storm drainage safety-install fence protection at approximately three locations

x Install 3 light on the back of the school zone flashers
FY2020-2021 GOALS/ OBJECTIVES:

x Maintain a high level of service to all of our citizens and continue to maintain the 88 miles of
roads and signage to a cost effective manner
x Continue storm drainage safety program
x Continue overlay program
x Rehabilitate Dunson Ct., Dunson Drive, Whitley Rd. between Bursey and North Tarrant.

x Rising cost of asphalt and concrete
x Unstable cost of fuel and lubrication
x Rising cost of dumping debris from repair projects
x Rising costs of contractor fees
