MPFDC RECREATION PROGRAM
MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of MPFDC Recreation Program is to provide a wide range of social, educational, wellness
and athletic activities for all ages that will enhance the quality of life for all participants and meet the
needs of the community while also providing a consistently high level of customer service.
Department at a Glance
The MPFDC Recreation Program is comprised of the Mansfield Activities Center (MAC). The budget for
the MAC increased 8.65% over last fiscal year as a result of equity and merit adjustments for staff, and
the addition of one part-time position.
Key Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Provide a variety of recreational facilities and programs to meet changing needs and priorities.
Objectives:
• Examine and evaluate enrollment rates of all programs on a quarterly basis to assess for any
needed improvements.
• Expand the Kids Zone to create an after-school program.
• Enhance current in-house special events.
Goal 2
Foster opportunities for environmental and nature education.
Objectives:
• Develop programs that interest new audiences of all ages.
• Establish a relationship with Mansfield Independent School District schools and surrounding
school districts through career days, outreach, and teacher training days.
• Develop summer camps into longer day programs.
• Train volunteer docents to lead nature education field trips and guide themed programs.
Goal 3
Increase participation in all athletic programs.
Objectives:
• Provide quality athletic leagues and tournaments for adults.
• Offer sports camps during school holidays.
• Offer programs that develop skills and fundamentals for a variety of sports.
Performance Objectives
• Begin offering a Kids Zone After-school Program.
• Implement Nature Education field trips/outreach programs.
• Expand sports program for adult leagues.
