COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING DEPARTMENT

               MISSION STATEMENT:

               The mission of the Communications and Marketing Department is to be the citizen, staff and media link
               to the City of Mansfield, enabling each to access information on city  news and special events, understand
               local and regional issues that impact Mansfield and participate in on-going, city-wide dialogue to build
               consensus and community support.

               Department at a Glance

               The Communications and Marketing Department includes the Communications Director and one graphic
               designer. The Communications and Marketing budget increased 16.18% in FY 2020-2021 due to merit
               and market adjustments and one-time contractual costs for consulting services.

               Key Goals and Objectives

               Goal 1
               Be the resident’s No. 1 source of City news and information.

               Objectives:
                   •  Expand on the City’s social media communications with news and information that will engage
                       residents and add followers.
                   •  Improve resident information access on the City website by expanding the City Newsroom page
                       to include more information on various department activities and projects.
                   •  Improve emergency communications to residents by updating and revising the City’s Crisis
                       Communications Plan and building online emergency templates that can be deployed during a
                       city-wide emergency.

               Goal 2
               Increase the profile of Mansfield and improve the public perception of the City through marketing and
               promotion both locally and nationally.

               Objectives:
                   •  Begin implementation of the Downtown Mansfield Communications and Marketing Plan.
                   •  Work with  the Economic Development Corporation to promote Mansfield through story
                       placement and advertising.

               Goal 3
               Improve internal communications to employees.

               Objectives:
                   •  Work with Human Resources and the Information Technology Department to develop an intranet
                       on the City’s website with engaging content for City staff.
                   •  Promote the organization via social media and the website with information on City operations
                       and services, connecting residents with City employees.
