DEPARTMENT OUTLINE: MAYOR AND COUNCIL
The City Council consists of a Mayor and five Councilmembers elected at-large for two-year terms (with no
term limits). Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (Work Session at
5:30 p.m.), and special or joint meetings (with Advisory Boards or Commissions) are scheduled as needed.

Attended various community meetings
Mayor Brian Johnson serves as the
Second Vice President of Texas
Municipal League (TML) Region 8, is the
Immediate Past Chair of the Tarrant
Regional Transportation Coalition
Executive Board, Chair of the Tarrant
County Mayors' Council, Vice Chair of
the Southeast Tarrant Transportation
Partnership (SETT), and on the boards
of the Tarrant County Homeless
Coalition and Tarrant County 9-1-1
District, and has seven years of service
to Camp Hope ; Nationally, he serves on
several National League of Cities (NLC)
committees including the Council on
Youth, Education and Families (YEF),
the Small Cities Council, and the
Transportation and Infrastructure
Services (TIS) Committee
Continued progress on the
collaboration with the City of Arlington
to provide operations and maintenance
as well as customer service and utility billing to Kennedale utility customers
Preliminary steps taken to establish a connection with the City of Arlington to improve water
quality and service
Adopted Ordinances aimed at protection of victims of domestic violence and child witnesses
to such crimes
Continued support of the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) partnership with NCTCOG for
infrastructure improvements in the Crestdale area around James F. Delaney Elementary and
James A. Arthur Intermediate Schools
Approved a "fine-free" structure for the Kennedale Public Library
Prioritized employee appreciation and retention by approving step plan expansion and salary
adjustments as well as offering a more formal annual employee awards event
