CITY OF BEDFORD - FY 20-21 MAINTENANCE SUMMARY

PROJECT: Perimeter Fence & Gate - Law Enforcement Center
DEPARTMENT:Support Services DIVISION: Facilities Maintenance

MAINTENANCE NEED: PROJECT COST: $ 320,000
This project will replace the existing wrought iron fence with a concrete
FUNDING SOURCE: Facilities Maintenance Fund
(or similar material) screening wall and gate which will provide coverage
and security to the back lot of the Police Department, vehicles and LOCATION: Law Enforcement Center
equipment. Additionally, the structure will prevent unauthorized foot
traffic from the general public into the back area.

PROJECT: Flooring Replacement - All Fire Stations

DEPARTMENT:Support Services DIVISION: Facilities Maintenance
MAINTENANCE NEED: PROJECT COST: $ 8,000
This is part of a three-year plan to update flooring at the Fire Stations, FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund
with this funding replacing the carpet with vinyl plank at Fire Station 2.
Vinyl plank is easier to clean, lasts longer, resists stains, and is more LOCATION: Fire Station 2
hygienic. Firefighters are exposed to many different pathogens that can
collect on their clothing and shoes. Vinyl flooring can be disinfected
daily to reduce the spread of germs and viruses. The carpet at Station 2
is the original carpet and beyond its useful life.

PROJECT: Painting - All Fire Stations

DEPARTMENT:Support Services DIVISION: Facilities Maintenance
MAINTENANCE NEED: PROJECT COST: $ 5,000
This is year two of a three year plan to address painting needs at the Fire FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund
Stations. The exterior of Fire Station 2 is in need of painting. Station 2 is
mostly constructed of brick with wood trim. Some of the wood is in need LOCATION: Fire Stations 1, 2, & 3
of replacement and the trim work needs repainting. Painting on a
regular schedule will keep wood rot to a minimum and ensure the
building remains attractive. The trim was last painted approximately 8
years ago.

PROJECT: Children's Area Carpet Replacement
DEPARTMENT:Community Services DIVISION: Library

MAINTENANCE NEED: PROJECT COST: $ 45,000
The carpet in the Children's Area is stained, fraying and faded due to
FUNDING SOURCE: Library Maintenance Fund
high traffic . Since 2011, the Library has had close to 2 million visitors.
This is part of an overall all plan to replace carpet in stages to minimize LOCATION: Library
disruption to service and to spread out the cost over several years.
