Summary:
Traffic Related Fatalties
Vision Zero is a traffic safety concept whose goal is

to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on roadways
to zero. An action plan including engineering, 8
planning, education, enforcement, and prosecution 6
was developed. Analysis actions, evaluation actions, 4
engineering actions, other departmental actions,
preparation actions, and safety preventative actions 2
are included in the action plan. These actions lead ‐
into the ongoing development of the crash profiles 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
and crash mitigation strategies.
Baseline All Fatal Accidents
In FY 2020, the following programs will be
implemented to reduce the FY 2017 baseline
number of 6,085 city roadway crashes: Traffic Related Serious Injuries
Safe streets; 50
Safe pedestrians;
Safe drivers; 40
Safe route to school (SRTS) 30

Update:

Staff is working on the master plans for Anderson,
Berry, Charlotte Anderson, and Ditto elementary ‐
schools. Three of the six applications for Safe Route 1st Qtr 2nd Qtr 3rd Qtr 4th Qtr
to School grant funding were awarded by NCTCOG
under the 2020 Transportation Alternatives Call for Baseline All Serious Injury Accidents
Projects. The total amount awarded for these three
projects is $3.91M.
Pedestrian Fatalities & Serious Injuries
Total number of fatalities did not change from the 8
rd
3 quarter; however, the total suspected serious 6
injuries increased during the quarter. Pedestrian
fatalities decreased as pedestrian serious injury 4
incidents increased.
