ATHLETICS
DESCRIPTION / MISSION
The Athletic Division plans, organizes and manages adult sports leagues, tournaments and athletic special events, which
contribute to quality of life and economic development by attracting outside visitors, athletic participants, and spectators to our
community. All indoor sports are coordinated through the NRH Centre. All adult softball, adult kickball, local tournaments, and all
outdoor athletic events will continue to be managed by the Athletic Division.
GOALS
• To provide quality athletic leagues, tournaments, and special events for the community. (Efficient and Effective Delivery of City
Services)
• To provide opportunities for business sponsorships in athletic leagues and special events. (Financial Stability)
• To program new sports and events for both adults and youth. (Efficient and Effective Delivery of City Services)
OBJECTIVES
• Continue offering all sports that have traditionally been offered. Offer two (2) brand new sports to help provide additional avenues
for athletic opportunity in NRH.
• Conduct community-wide fitness focused fun runs/walks or bike events starting in the spring and concluding in December. Assist
with the planning and coordination of city-wide special events.
• Obtain sponsorships and partnerships for athletic programs and community special events.
• Evaluate current leagues through participant surveys, and introduce one (1) new league based on national trends
• Provide support and assistance to the three Youth Sports Associations.
• Coordinate indoor athletic leagues and three (3) summer sports camps at the NRH Centre.
