         DIVERSION PROGRAM
                                                   DESCRIPTION / MISSION
          The Juvenile Case Manager Position (JCM) performs several duties to include those equal to a court clerk, probation officer, and mentor/social
          worker. The goal of the JCM is to assist AT RISK youth, adults and families in crisis by identifying concerns, referring to appropriate resources
          and maintaining contact with the family while their case is pending in Court. This position has a caseload that consists of any case that is
          identified by an assortment of the following for juveniles, minors and/or young adults: at risk youth, substance use/abuse, Truancy, Indigence,
          and Mental Health concerns. Successful results are achieved by collaborating with other agencies, staying current on training of issues
          affecting at-risk youth, as well as adults with mental health issues or indigence issues by taking a personal interest in defendants and their
          families through recommendations to the Judge for sentencing defendants - based on their individual needs and working with them, while their
          case is pending completion.

                                                           GOALS
          • To offer specific sentencing alternatives to include local education, counseling or intervention programs for youth and adults who

          • To increase involvement in community programs and projects involving public safety initiatives. (Safety and Security)
          • To reinvest in our youth and adults by identifying problems and linking them to specific resources for self enrichment and
           community enhancement. (Sense of Community) (Safety & Security)
                                                        OBJECTIVES
          • Continue to reach out to BISD and Winfree students who are at risk of truant behavior and or dropping out of School.
          • Connecting people with resources who come before the Court and collaborating with other agencies to enhance the safety and
           wellbeing of not only the defendant, but their families, neighbors and educators.
          • Continue regular networking to provide alternative services and community outreach opportunities.
          • Promoting positive reassurance and encouragement to at risk defendants participating in the Diversion Program.
