FIRE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

               Department at a Glance

               The Emergency Management Department includes one Emergency Management Coordinator.
               The department  budget increased  3.56% due  to a merit adjustment and the implementation of  a new
               emergency notification system to replace Code Red.

               Key Goals and Objectives

               Goal 1
               Integration of UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) technology into fire operations.

               Objectives:
                   •  Development of a deployment, usage, and training plan.
                   •  Development of a plan for training engineers to be UAS pilots.
                   •  Certify new pilots with a written test and flight skills test.

               Goal 2
               Improve the City’s readiness for response to a disaster.

               Objectives:
                   •  Thoroughly review the current approved Disaster Debris Removal Plan to identify needed
                       changes.
                   •  Update the Disaster Debris Removal Plan.
                   •  Submit updated plan for City Council approval.

               Goal 3
               Improve the capabilities of the Emergency Operations Center.

               Objectives:
                   •  Determine the best staffing and operations methods for the EOC using best practices.
                   •  Update and replace older EOC equipment and software.
                   •  Conduct disaster training and an exercise with city staff to assess our capabilities.

               Performance Measures
                   •  Incorporate UAS technology in daily operations.
                   •  Review and revise the Disaster Debris Management Plan in FY2019-2020.
                   •  Make the Emergency Operations Center more effective and efficient.
