CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
Department at a Glance
The Criminal Investigation Department includes one captain, two sergeants, two crime scene technicians,
one victim assistance coordinator, twelve detectives, two property technicians, one civilian investigator
and one crime analyst. The CID budget increased 8.73% due to a merit adjustment and the addition of one
detective to the department.
Key Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Provide technology advancements to maximize staff potential.
Objectives:
• Inventory hardware and software to ensure we meet future needs.
• Identify and implement new business technologies and systems that can improve the day-to-day
functions of the division.
Goal 2
Improve and provide continuous education and awareness for sworn and non-sworn personnel.
Objectives:
• Commander will develop brief training summaries to review critical Police Policies and Standard
Operating Procedures that will be presented and reviewed periodically during weekly staff
meetings.
• Provide monthly case law reviews for current rulings to sworn personnel.
Goal 3
Implement a structured mentoring program between the Criminal Investigations Department and Patrol.
Objectives:
• Each month one detective will be assigned to patrol to provide one-on-one mentorship.
• Ensure detectives obtain further experience through mentoring and internal training that will
increase their investigative knowledge and skills.
Performance Objectives
• Review current technology capabilities and determine/plan for future needs.
• Provide additional training to sworn and non-sworn personnel.
• Develop a mentoring program with Patrol.
