ENTERPRISE FUND PUBLIC WORKS 0668 WATER
MISSION STATEMENT
To provide safe drinking water in sufficient volumes with adequate pressure to the water
customers of Hurst and maintain the integrity of the water distribution system.
DIVISION DESCRIPTION
The Water Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of water production and
distribution. These include approximately 205 miles of water lines, 1,236 fire hydrants, 4,413
water system valves, 12,393 active connections, ten ground storage tanks with a capacity of 9.3
million gallons, three elevated storage tanks with a capacity of 2.75 million gallons, two water
supply connections with the City of Fort Worth, six City owned water wells and three emergency
water supply connections.
PRIOR YEAR RESULTS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Completed the rebuild of Pump# 54 at Station No. 5 and Pump#42 at Station No. 4
Cleaning and inspection of two (2) elevated storage tanks.
Completed the Update to the Drought/Emergency Water Management Plan.
Completed the Update to the Water Conservation Plan.
Submitted the 2018 Texas Water Development Board Water (TWDB) Loss Audit.
Submitted the 2018 TWDB Water Use Survey.
Submitted the 2018 TWDB Conservation Report.
Submitted the 2018 TWDB Utility Profile
Submitted the 2018 Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Utility Profile.
Submitted the 2018 Water Quality Report to the TCEQ.
Held the 2018 Water Quality Report Public Meeting for July 17, 2018.
Continued the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule Stage 4 Sampling (UCMR4) as
required by the EPA and TCEQ. Projected completion is late 2019.
Continued development and use of the City Works Asset Management System.
Completed installation of the North Precinct Line Elevated Storage Tank (EST) Water
Quality Control System
Completed the North Precinct Line EST Emergency Riser Repair
Submitted over 600 required water quality samples representing the City of Hurst Water
System as a whole to TCEQ.

Completed the 3 Year Water System Investigation through the TCEQ without deficiency.
Submitted required Nitrification Samples for the Hurst water system as per the 2017
Nitrification Action Plan (NAP).
Completed 95 Commercial Meter Tests with repairs and replacements as needed.
