FUTURE INITIATIVES
Major projects include improvements to Post Oak - Parker Cemetery, the renovation of
the Hurst Tennis Center Building, replacement of the City Hall Roof, construction of the
Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, design and construction of the City’s first dog park,
Renovation of the Hurst Recreation Center, and Vivagene Copeland Park
Improvements.
Replacement of the City’s Permitting, Licensing and Land Management software
system.
Transfer of the Brookside Center to the Hurst Conference Center
Conduct a Department wide analysis of fees, policies, operating practices and personnel
structure to ensure the Divisions are accomplishing their missions.

Goals:
• Be proactive in meeting cultural, educational, recreational, technological and historical
needs.
• Develop a systematic approach to completing capital projects in the Half-Cent Sales Tax
Fund and shift focus to paying off debt and facility operation and maintenance.
• Provide programs to Hurst citizens that focus on healthy living.
• Continue to develop programs and services to address the needs of Hurst senior
citizens.
Objectives:
• To respond to citizen needs through short and long term strategic planning that addresses
the community's needs for park, recreation, aquatics, library, senior activities and facilities
services.
