Council Priorities: Redevelopment, Public Safety, Economic Vitality

Goals:

• Establish neighborhood meeting plan and a routine, proactive presence in the
community.
• Implement neighborhood health dashboard with statistics to use for education and
outreach.
• Introduce a code enforcement incentive initiative program to promote responsible
property maintenance and related education efforts.
• Review and refine development standards to promote quality development throughout
Hurst.

Objectives:

• Implement routine neighborhood meetings for education and outreach, and introduce
property maintenance incentive program.
 0-3 Years Short Term

• Continue to review and update Code of Ordinances to enhance and enrich Quality of
Life, working with the Neighborhood and Community Advisory Committee.
 0-3 Years Short Term

• Implement new software for development, code compliance and permitting enabling
nearly paperless work flows for submissions and reviews.
 0-3 Years Short Term

• Continually review community’s evolving interest in land use trends regarding the City’s
zoning ordinance.
 3-10 Years Intermediate Term

• Update the City’s Comprehensive Plan with public input.
