PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Bedford Wastewater Division is responsible for the protection of public health and environmental safety through the
collection and disposal of household and commercial sewer waste. This is accomplished by the repair and maintenance of sewer mains,
line cleaning and video inspection of the City sewer mains and services. Rehabilitation of the sewer lines and manholes is performed to
help reduce the infiltration of rainwater and sanitary sewer discharge.
FY 2018-2019 HIGHLIGHTS
∗ Replacement of 2,504 linear feet of sanitary sewer main on Brown Trail from SH 183 service road to Bedford Road.
∗ Entered into a 10 year Sanitary Sewer Overflow Initiative with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
∗ Installation of approximately 40 linear feet of sewer main on Bedford Road at Tennis Drive.
∗ Completed 316,641 feet of sewer main line cleaning.

∗ Prioritize areas for future rehabilitation projects in conjunction with street and water rehabilitation projects.
∗ To provide a sound collection system that reduces overflows and infiltration.

∗ Respond to customer requests quickly and resolve in an effective manner.
∗ Build on public education and awareness of waste discharge and environmental issues that affect the wastewater system.
∗ Continue educating local businesses, apartment complexes and residents about the Fats, Oils and Grease Program.
