PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Neighborhood Services Division is responsible for addressing nuisance and property standard violations to provide a safe and
healthy environment for the community. These violations include, but are not limited to: high weeds and grass, trash and debris,
dilapidated fences, illegal dumping, illegal signage, and junk/abandoned vehicles. The main goal of enforcement is to gain compliance
through cooperative efforts, follow-ups, and citations, when necessary, to reduce neighborhood deterioration and sustain property
values.
FY 2018-2019 HIGHLIGHTS
∗ Partnership and collaboration with the Behavioral Intervention Unit in identifying ordinance violators suffering from mental
illnesses. This cooperative network finds resolution to the ordinance violation, and resources to assist the mental illness. The BIU
and Neighborhood Services Division have also addressed numerous homeless camp issues with BIU providing resources and
guidance to the homeless individuals.
∗ Added new Neighborhood Services Manager to create new Neighborhood Services Division.

∗ Continue participation between Neighborhood Services and Animal Control in the weekly Neighborhood Revitalization Program
to identify and address quality of life issues.

∗ Create new outreach programs to garner citizen involvement in neighborhood revitalization.

∗ Continued proactive efforts by the Neighborhood Services Division to address and resolve ordinance violations.
∗ Work with identified habitual violator locations to reduce/eliminate repeat occurrences.
Organizational Excellence
∗ Ensure timely follow-ups to identified code violations 100% of the time.
∗ Increase the percentage of officer-identified violations versus those generated by the public.
Communicate & Engage with Citizens
∗ Incorporate the Volunteers in Policing Services Program to assist with follow-up visits to locations.
