PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The mission of the Inspections Division is to oversee plan review and permit issuance to ensure that proposed construction work meets
safety requirements of the code; that the process is performed in the highest professional standards to fulfill the needs of the
community; and to provide exceptional personalized service by providing timely, efficient and thorough building inspections.
The Inspection Division provides permit and inspection services for citizens, property owners, businesses, contractors, and authorized
agents. Permit and inspection services are provided for applicants that intend to make improvements to or change the occupancy of a
building or structure.
FY 2018-2019 HIGHLIGHTS
∗ Received approximately $727,320 in permit fees FY 18-19.
∗ Issued 3,440 building and trade permits for FY 18-19.
∗ Adoption of the International Codes, 2018 Edition.
∗ Performed 74 Multi-Family property maintenance inspections for FY 18-19.
∗ Inspections for larger projects such as Home2 Suites, Residence Inn, Fitness Connection, Texas Health Hospital and Polycoat.
∗ Performed 5,344 building inspections for FY 18-19.
∗ Performed 1,178 plan reviews for FY 18-19.
∗ Issued 104 Certificate of Occupancy permits for new businesses to the City.
