Parks and Recreation Department

Mission Statement ‐ The Link Event and Recreation Center and its fiscal responsible ideals will
bring the community together and promote an evolved level in quality of life with programs in
education, fitness, recreation, the arts and sports. Its events and facilities will offer residents,
businesses and visitors opportunities that are balanced in high quality service and experience.

Vision Statement ‐ The Link Event and Recreation Center will be an avenue for improved quality
of life and fostering a sense of community. It will be a regional hub for recreational
programming and hosting events that will be a benchmark for others to model.

Goals for Parks
 Create a hazard free and ADA compliant environment for children and families to enjoy
the outdoors.
 Improve the greenscape at all parks, city entrances, ROWs, and medians.
 Increase frequency of staff oversight at city parks.
 Increase attendance and usage at city parks.

Goals for Recreation
 Increase participation at city‐wide special events.
 Increase participation at senior service programs.
 Improve information delivery to residents and non‐residents inside of 5 mile radius.

 Improve the professionalism of recreation staff.

Goals for The Link

 Increase the membership revenue.
 Increase membership usage.
 Improve the cost recovery percent above the final FY1718 number.
 Increase children’s programing by 50% above current year.

Goals for Personnel
 Have a CPSI on staff.
 Have an additional CPO on staff.
 Improve customer service at the front desk.
 Hire an additional custodian, as funds allow.
